Brasserie Zédel

Brasserie Zédel is the grand subterranean brasserie tucked beneath the streets off Piccadilly Circus, reached by a sweeping staircase down from a small café on Sherwood Street. The dining room occupies a 1930s Art Deco hall designed by stage-set designer Oliver Bernard within the former Regent Palace Hotel, all marble columns, gilded capitals, mirrored walls and warm timber veneer. It runs as a proper Parisian brasserie, busy from breakfast through to late dinner, and the room itself is the draw: one of the most complete period interiors in central London.

The site is really three connected rooms. Beyond the main hall sits Bar Américain, a hidden cocktail bar lined with Paul Colin's 1927 Le Tumulte Noir lithographs, its leather tub chairs, gold lamps and lacquered panelling little changed in feel since the Jazz Age. Off the other side is Crazy Coqs, a small Art Deco cabaret room in monochrome and red with a grand piano on its stage, a fixture on the West End live circuit and a regular backdrop for film and television.

For private events the brasserie itself can be taken exclusively, while Crazy Coqs and Bar Américain are the two dedicated hire rooms, both available for daytime functions and, by arrangement, in the evening. Crazy Coqs in particular suits an intimate party: a self-contained room with its own bar and stage, made for music. Enquire for whole-venue or single-room hire.
