Young Sherlock: World Premiere

Tuesday, 24 February 2026 Queen Elizabeth Hall · South Bank

Guy Ritchie’s Young Sherlock, with Hero Fiennes Tiffin as a nineteen-year-old Holmes at Oxford, had its world premiere at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.

Guy Ritchie’s Young Sherlock had its world premiere at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on the South Bank on Tuesday 24 February 2026, eight days before Prime Video released all eight episodes.

Ritchie was born in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, in 1968 and left school at fifteen, working in junior jobs in the film industry and then directing commercials before his short The Hard Case in 1995. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels in 1998 and Snatch in 2000 made his name, and in 2009 and 2011 he directed Robert Downey Jr. in Sherlock Holmes and A Game of Shadows, both commercial hits.

The series, created by Matthew Parkhill and developed by Peter Harness with Ritchie, who directed two episodes, draws on Andrew Lane’s Young Sherlock Holmes books. Holmes is nineteen, at Oxford and not yet disciplined, when a murder makes him a suspect and brings him into the company of James Moriarty. Hero Fiennes Tiffin, the young Tom Riddle of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, plays Holmes, and his uncle Joseph Fiennes plays his father, Silas. Zine Tseng plays a scholar and martial artist posing as a princess of the Qing dynasty, and Prime Video renewed the series in April.

For the night the hall held a replica of the door of 221B Baker Street. Dónal Finn, Zine Tseng and Max Irons joined Ritchie and both Fienneses on the carpet.
