Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy led the UK premiere of The Magic Faraway Tree, Ben Gregor’s film of Enid Blyton’s books, in Leicester Square.
Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy led the UK premiere of The Magic Faraway Tree at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square on Sunday 22 March 2026, five days before the film opened in British cinemas.
Garfield was born in 1983 and began on the West End stage and in British television, where Boy A gave him his breakout in 2007. The Social Network and Never Let Me Go followed, then two films as Spider-Man from 2012 and a return to the part in Spider-Man: No Way Home, with Under the Silver Lake and The Eyes of Tammy Faye between. Hacksaw Ridge and Tick, Tick… Boom! each brought him an Academy Award nomination, and he holds a Tony Award and a BAFTA for television.
Ben Gregor directed from Simon Farnaby’s adaptation of Enid Blyton’s Faraway Tree books. Garfield and Foy play Tim and Polly Thompson, who move their three screen-bound children from the city to the countryside, where the children find a tree that opens onto magical worlds. Nonso Anozie, Nicola Coughlan, Jessica Gunning, Jennifer Saunders and Rebecca Ferguson complete the cast, and two sequels were announced in May. Principal photography began at Shinfield Studios in Berkshire in June 2024.
Foy, who played Anne Boleyn in Wolf Hall and won two Emmy Awards as Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown, joined Garfield on the carpet with Coughlan and Gunning.
