Tom Hiddleston and Mike Flanagan brought The Life of Chuck, the Stephen King adaptation that won the People’s Choice Award at Toronto, to the closing night of the first SXSW London.
The Life of Chuck, the Stephen King adaptation starring Tom Hiddleston, held its UK premiere at the Barbican Centre on Saturday 7 June 2025. It closed the first SXSW London, with the director Mike Flanagan and Chiwetel Ejiofor on the carpet.
Hiddleston was born in Westminster in 1981. After training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, he won the Olivier Award for Best Newcomer in a Play for Cymbeline in the West End.
In 2011 he took the role of Loki in Thor, and he played it again in six further films. The Night Manager brought him a Golden Globe for Best Actor.
Flanagan wrote, edited and directed the film from King’s 2020 novella. It follows an accountant, Charles Krantz, in reverse order, from the end of the world back to his childhood. It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2024 and won the People’s Choice Award.
Studiocanal released the film in British cinemas on 22 August 2025.
Karen Gillan, Mark Hamill and Jacob Tremblay complete the principal cast, with narration by Nick Offerman.
