The HBO drama The Last of Us held the UK premiere of its second season at the Vue West End in Leicester Square on Thursday 10 April 2025. Bella Ramsey and Isabela Merced led the cast of the series, adapted from Naughty Dog’s video game.
Ramsey, who plays Ellie, trained at the Television Workshop in Nottingham. At twelve Ramsey was cast as Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones. Mildred Hubble in The Worst Witch brought a BAFTA for a young performer, and Ellie brought Emmy, Golden Globe and BAFTA Television Award nominations.
Merced, new to the series as Dina, was born in Cleveland to a Peruvian mother. She made her Broadway debut at ten in Evita and led Dora and the Lost City of Gold before Alien: Romulus.
The season adapts the first half of The Last of Us Part II and opens five years after the first. Pedro Pascal returned as Joel.
The season began on Sky and NOW on Monday 14 April.
Craig Mazin, who created the series with Neil Druckmann, walked the carpet with Gabriel Luna, who plays Joel’s brother Tommy, and Young Mazino, who plays Jesse.
