Savage House: World Premiere at SXSW London

Wednesday, 3 June 2026 Barbican Centre · Barbican

Claire Foy brought Savage House, Peter Glanz’s satire of a ruined Georgian family in which she stars opposite Richard E. Grant, to the Barbican for its world premiere.

Savage House, Peter Glanz’s period satire, held its world premiere in Cinema 1 at the Barbican Centre on Wednesday 3 June 2026, as one of the headline screenings of SXSW London.

Claire Foy, who plays Lady Savage, led the carpet. Born in Stockport in 1984 and raised in Buckinghamshire, she studied drama and screen studies at Liverpool John Moores University, intending at first to become a cinematographer, before a year at the Oxford School of Drama. Little Dorrit and her Anne Boleyn in Wolf Hall established her, and her Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown won a Golden Globe and two Emmys. First Man, Women Talking and All of Us Strangers followed.

Glanz, an American filmmaker, wrote, directed and edited the film. It is set in 1715, the first year of the Georgian period. Sir Chauncey and Lady Savage, played by Richard E. Grant and Foy, are an impoverished couple in a crumbling Yorkshire mansion who despise each other and sell off jewellery to keep gambling. News that the Duke of Devonshire will visit sends them into a frenzy of new clothes, polished silver and fresh servants. Jack Farthing, Bel Powley and Kíla Lord Cassidy complete the principal cast.

Adriano Goldman was director of photography, and the house scenes drew on West Wycombe Park. Paramount Pictures released the film in British and Irish cinemas two days after the Barbican screening.
