The Royal Windsor Horse Show is the one week of the year the private grounds of Windsor Castle open to the public, and the Royal Family has attended since 1943.
The Royal Windsor Horse Show returns to Windsor Castle in Windsor, Berkshire, for four days of international equestrian sport from Thursday 13 to Sunday 16 May 2027.
The show has been held annually in Windsor Home Park since 1943, and its own club was founded the following year. It is the only week in the year when the private grounds of the Castle open to the public.
The Royal Family has attended since 1943. Queen Elizabeth II was its patron until her death in 2022, and King Charles III succeeded her, with Prince Edward as president.
No other show in Britain runs international dressage, show jumping, carriage driving and endurance on one site. More than 130 showing classes sit beside them, for native breeds and types that appear on no other five-star schedule.
The 2027 show closes with the Rolex Grand Prix on the Sunday, and more than 50,000 people come across the week. On the final nights the evening performance in the main arena is a lit pageant rather than a competition.
