England v Australia, Nations Championship 2026

Sunday, 8 November 2026 Allianz Stadium · Twickenham

England open their first Nations Championship home November against Australia at Twickenham, with the Ella-Mobbs Trophy at stake a year after a 25-7 win.

England play Australia at Allianz Stadium in Twickenham on Sunday 8 November 2026, the first of three home pool matches in the inaugural Nations Championship.

Six Nations Rugby and SANZAAR created the championship as a biennial tournament for the years without a World Cup or a Lions tour. The six European unions form one group, and Australia, Argentina, New Zealand and South Africa form the other, with Japan and Fiji invited.

Each team meets all six opponents from the other group across the July and November windows. The standings set the pairings for a Finals Weekend at Twickenham from 27 to 29 November, and in 2026 these matches replace the Autumn Nations Series.

The two sides play for the Ella-Mobbs Trophy, which replaced the Cook Cup in 2022. It honours Mark Ella, the Indigenous Wallabies playmaker, and Edgar Mobbs, who played nine Tests for England before he was killed on the Western Front in 1917.

England won the last meeting here 25-7 in November 2025, when the 20-year-old Henry Pollock scored his third try in 36 minutes of Test rugby. This time the result also counts towards the table that decides England’s opponent on Finals Weekend.
