Hannah Waddingham and Octavia Spencer, who play two best friends on the run across Europe, brought the Prime Video series Ride or Die to Soho for a special screening.
Hannah Waddingham and Octavia Spencer led the UK special screening of the Prime Video series Ride or Die at the Ham Yard Hotel in Soho on Monday 22 June 2026.
Waddingham was born in Wandsworth in 1974, the daughter of an opera singer, and made her name in West End musicals, among them Spamalot. Rebecca Welton in Ted Lasso brought her an Emmy, and in 2023 she co-hosted the Eurovision Song Contest.
Spencer, born in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1970, won the Academy Award for The Help. Both women are executive producers on the series.
Tessa Coates created Ride or Die. Spencer plays Debbie Claybourne, the American wife of a British MP, and Waddingham her closest friend, Judith Burton, who turns out to be an international assassin. When a hit goes wrong, the two go on the run across Europe, pursued by the police and by rival killers.
On the carpet, Waddingham spoke about how rarely two women in their fifties lead an action series. All eight episodes reached Prime Video on 15 July.
Bill Nighy, who plays the director of the agency Judith works for, joined the two leads at the screening.
