Willie Mullins trained the first three home in the 2025 Randox Grand National, led by the 33-1 winner Nick Rockett and his amateur jockey son Patrick.
Willie Mullins trained the first three home in the Grand National, which closed three days at Aintree Racecourse in Aintree, Merseyside, from Thursday 3 to Saturday 5 April 2025.
The Grand National was first run on 26 February 1839. It is a handicap steeplechase over four miles and 514 yards, two circuits and thirty fences, for horses of seven or older rated 125 or better.
Randox has been its headline sponsor since 2017. In 2025 the fund stood at £1 million, with £500,000 for the winner.
Thursday opened the festival with the Aintree Hurdle among its Grade 1 races. Friday, Ladies Day, carried the Melling Chase and the Style Awards.
On Saturday 34 runners went to post, 18 of them trained in Ireland and six by Mullins. Nick Rockett, a 33-1 chance ridden by Mullins’s son Patrick, an amateur, took the lead at the last. He beat I Am Maximus, the 2024 winner, by two and a half lengths, and Grangeclare West came third.
Iroko, the 13-2 favourite, finished fourth. The course had been watered after a dry, sunny spell, leaving good to soft ground, and sixteen horses completed the race.
