Brendan Fraser, Andrew Scott and Damian Lewis brought Pressure, the drama of the weather forecast behind D-Day, to Leicester Square for its European premiere.
Pressure had its European premiere at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square on Tuesday 1 September 2026, days before StudioCanal released the Second World War drama in British cinemas.
Andrew Scott, who plays the meteorologist James Stagg, led the carpet with Brendan Fraser and Damian Lewis. Scott was born in Dublin in 1976, took youth classes at the Gaiety School of Acting and left a drama degree at Trinity College Dublin after six months to join the Abbey Theatre. Moriarty in Sherlock and the priest in Fleabag made him known to a wide audience, followed by All of Us Strangers and Ripley. Fraser, born in Indianapolis in 1968 to Canadian parents, trained at the Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, found fame in The Mummy and won the Academy Award for Best Actor for The Whale.
The director, Anthony Maras, who made Hotel Mumbai, about the 2008 attacks on the city, joined them. He wrote the screenplay with David Haig, from Haig’s 2014 stage play, in which Haig himself played Stagg.
The film covers the days before the Normandy landings in June 1944. At Southwick House, Eisenhower, played by Fraser, needs Stagg’s forecast before he can commit the invasion fleet, while an American meteorologist, played by Chris Messina, disputes it. Lewis plays General Montgomery and Kerry Condon plays Kay Summersby, Eisenhower’s secretary and confidante.
