Leonardo DiCaprio and Paul Thomas Anderson brought One Battle After Another, the film that went on to win Best Picture, to Leicester Square for its London premiere.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, held its London premiere at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square in the West End on Tuesday 16 September 2025. Anderson and DiCaprio led the cast on the carpet.
DiCaprio was born in Los Angeles in 1974 and started in commercials and the sitcom Growing Pains. What’s Eating Gilbert Grape brought his first Academy Award nomination in 1993, Titanic made him an international star, and he won Best Actor for The Revenant.
Anderson wrote, directed and produced the film, drawing on Thomas Pynchon’s 1990 novel Vineland. DiCaprio plays a washed-up former revolutionary pulled back into the fight when an old adversary resurfaces after sixteen years.
Anderson shot it in California in 2024 on VistaVision, one of the first films in the format since the 1960s and the most expensive production of his career.
Six months after the London evening, the film won Best Picture at the 98th Academy Awards.
Sean Penn, later named Best Supporting Actor for his part, joined them that evening with Benicio del Toro, Teyana Taylor and Chase Infiniti, in her first film.
