Mortal Kombat II: European Fan Event

Thursday, 30 April 2026 BFI IMAX · South Bank

Lewis Tan, Tati Gabrielle, Adeline Rudolph and Martyn Ford brought Mortal Kombat II to the BFI IMAX for its European fan event, eight days before the sequel opened.

Warner Bros. brought Mortal Kombat II to the BFI IMAX on the South Bank for its European fan event on Thursday 30 April 2026. Lewis Tan, who returned as Cole Young, led the London carpet.

Tan was born in Salford in 1987 to an English fashion model and a Singaporean martial artist and stunt coordinator, who trained him in martial arts. The family moved to Los Angeles when his father was hired as fight coordinator on Tim Burton’s Batman.

He played Shatterstar in Deadpool 2 and Tolya in Shadow and Bone before leading the 2021 Mortal Kombat.

Simon McQuoid returned to direct, from a screenplay by Jeremy Slater. Karl Urban plays Johnny Cage, a film star whom the thunder god Raiden and Sonya Blade recruit to fight for Earthrealm. The tournament sets him against the warriors of Outworld and their emperor, Shao Kahn.

The London event came three days after the sequel’s Hollywood premiere, and it gave Tan a carpet in the country of his birth.

Tati Gabrielle, Adeline Rudolph and Martyn Ford, new to the series, joined him with Andrew Koji and Mehcad Brooks. The film opened in cinemas and on IMAX screens on 8 May.
