Tom Cruise brought his final outing as Ethan Hunt to Leicester Square for the UK premiere of The Final Reckoning, the eighth Mission: Impossible film since 1996.
Tom Cruise, in his last outing as Ethan Hunt, led the UK premiere of The Final Reckoning in Leicester Square in the West End on Thursday 15 May 2025. The film had screened at Cannes the night before.
Born in Syracuse, New York, in 1962, Cruise made his screen debut in Endless Love in 1981. Risky Business and Top Gun made him a leading man within five years, and A Few Good Men and Jerry Maguire followed.
He has been nominated for four competitive Academy Awards, and he holds an Academy Honorary Award and an Honorary Palme d’Or. A licensed pilot since 1994, he often performs his own stunts.
The Final Reckoning was the eighth Mission: Impossible film, in a series that opened in 1996. Christopher McQuarrie directed it as a sequel to Dead Reckoning, from a screenplay written with Erik Jendresen. The story set Hunt and his team against the Entity, a rogue artificial intelligence.
McQuarrie joined Cruise in London with Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Angela Bassett, Pom Klementieff and Hannah Waddingham. Paramount released the film in British cinemas later that month.
