Nicholas Galitzine and Camila Mendes brought Masters of the Universe to Leicester Square for its UK premiere, in the city where the film was shot.
Masters of the Universe had its UK premiere at Cineworld Leicester Square in the West End on Wednesday 27 May 2026. Nicholas Galitzine, who plays Prince Adam and He-Man, led the cast.
Galitzine was born in London in 1994 and educated at Dulwich College. His first feature was the musical drama The Beat Beneath My Feet in 2014. Red, White and Royal Blue, The Idea of You and the series Mary and George, opposite Julianne Moore, made his name.
Camila Mendes, who plays Teela, joined him with Charlotte Riley and the director, Travis Knight. Knight ran the animation studio Laika and directed Kubo and the Two Strings and the Transformers film Bumblebee.
The film is the second live-action adaptation of Mattel’s toy line, after the 1987 version with Dolph Lundgren. Adam returns to his home planet to take up his destiny and defend it from Skeletor, played by Jared Leto. Idris Elba, Alison Brie and Kristen Wiig also appear.
London was also where it was made: principal photography ran there from January to June 2025. Sony Pictures released it in Britain for Amazon MGM Studios.
