Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey opened Gareth Edwards’s Jurassic World Rebirth in Leicester Square, the seventh film in the series begun by Jurassic Park in 1993.
Jurassic World Rebirth held its world premiere at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square on Tuesday 17 June 2025, two weeks before the film reached British cinemas.
Scarlett Johansson headed the cast on the carpet. Born in Manhattan in 1984, she studied as a child at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and made her screen debut in North in 1994. Lost in Translation won her the BAFTA for Best Actress, and the Broadway revival of A View from the Bridge brought her a Tony in 2010. Eight films as Natasha Romanoff in the Marvel series followed, ending with Black Widow in 2021, and in 2019 she was nominated for two Academy Awards in the same year, for Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit. Her films as a leading actress have grossed more than $15 billion worldwide.
Gareth Edwards directed Rebirth from a screenplay by David Koepp, who co-wrote the original Jurassic Park in 1993, and the story grew from an idea by Steven Spielberg, the franchise’s executive producer. Johansson played Zora Bennett, a covert operative who leads a team to an island research station to recover dinosaur DNA with medical value.
Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali and Rupert Friend joined her on the carpet. The film was shot in Thailand, Malta and the United Kingdom through the summer of 2024, and Universal released it in British cinemas on 2 July 2025.
