Goodbye June London Premiere

Wednesday, 3 December 2025 Curzon Mayfair · Mayfair

Kate Winslet premiered Goodbye June, her first film as a director, written by her son Joe Anders, at Curzon Mayfair with Toni Collette and Timothy Spall.

Kate Winslet, the Academy Award winner for The Reader, brought her first film as a director, Goodbye June, to Curzon Mayfair for its London premiere on Wednesday 3 December 2025. Her son Joe Anders, who wrote the screenplay, joined her on the carpet.

Winslet was born in Reading in 1975 and studied drama at the Redroofs Theatre School. She made her film debut in Peter Jackson’s Heavenly Creatures, and Sense and Sensibility won her a first BAFTA.

Titanic made her famous in 1997. She then chose independent and period work, including Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Revolutionary Road, and Mildred Pierce and Mare of Easttown each brought her an Emmy.

Winslet had not meant to direct, and took the film on after reading Anders’s script. It gathers four grown children and their father around their mother, June, in the fortnight before Christmas as her long illness reaches its end.

Helen Mirren plays June, with Toni Collette, Andrea Riseborough, Johnny Flynn and Timothy Spall as the family. Collette, Riseborough, Flynn and Spall also walked the carpet.

The film opened in selected British cinemas on 12 December and reached Netflix on Christmas Eve.
