England beat India by 22 runs in the third Test at Lord’s in July 2025, after Ravindra Jadeja’s unbeaten 61 took the chase to the last wicket.
England beat India by 22 runs in the third Test at Lord’s Cricket Ground in St John’s Wood, played from Thursday 10 to Monday 14 July 2025. The win put England 2-1 up in the five-match series.
Lord’s is owned by the Marylebone Cricket Club, the guardian of the Laws of the game, and is known as the Home of Cricket. The pitch slopes, and on the last morning the ball that trapped KL Rahul lbw moved down that slope.
The first innings ended level at 387 apiece, with Joe Root making 104 for England and Rahul 100 for India. England made 192 in their second innings, leaving India 193 to win.
Jofra Archer, in his first Test for four years, bowled Rishabh Pant, and Ben Stokes bowled through the last day. That day, 14 July, was the anniversary of the day in 2019 when Stokes made England world champions.
India were 112 for 8 at lunch before Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah took the chase close. Jadeja was 61 not out when Shoaib Bashir bowled Mohammed Siraj, ending the closest Test result Lord’s had seen. Stokes was player of the match.
