Emirates FA Cup Final 2025

Saturday, 17 May 2025 Wembley Stadium · Wembley

Crystal Palace won the first major trophy in their history at Wembley, beating Manchester City 1–0 in the 144th FA Cup Final with an Eberechi Eze goal.

Wembley Stadium staged the 144th FA Cup Final on Saturday 17 May 2025, between Crystal Palace and a Manchester City side playing in its third consecutive final.

The FA Cup was inaugurated in 1872 and is the oldest football competition in the world. Its final has been played at Wembley for most of the last century, moved to Cardiff between 2001 and 2006 while the stadium was rebuilt, and returned in 2007 to open the new ground. Every round is drawn at random, with no seeding and no second leg, so the bracket that ends at Wembley in May begins far down the pyramid.

Palace came to the final in their 120th year, after losing finals in 1990 and 2016, and had never won a major trophy. City were chasing an eighth FA Cup, which would have drawn them level with Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, and they dominated the opening minutes.

Palace scored with their first attack. Jean-Philippe Mateta fed Daniel Muñoz on the right, and Eberechi Eze met the low cross first time. Dean Henderson then saved a first-half penalty from Omar Marmoush and kept City out for the rest of the afternoon before a crowd of 84,163. Muñoz was named player of the match, and the win carried Palace into European competition for the first time in the club’s history.
