Deep Cover: World Premiere at SXSW London

Wednesday, 4 June 2025 Barbican Centre · Barbican

Orlando Bloom, Bryce Dallas Howard and Nick Mohammed opened Tom Kingsley’s London comedy Deep Cover in the Barbican Hall, as a world premiere at SXSW London.

Deep Cover held its world premiere in the Barbican Hall on Wednesday 4 June 2025, as one of the headline screenings of SXSW London.

Orlando Bloom headed the cast on the carpet. Born in Canterbury in 1977 and named after the composer Orlando Gibbons, he was encouraged into drama classes as a dyslexic schoolboy and made his film debut in Wilde in 1997. Two days after graduating from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1999 he was cast as Legolas in The Lord of the Rings. Will Turner in Pirates of the Caribbean, Paris in Troy and Balian in Kingdom of Heaven followed, and BAFTA later gave him its Britannia Humanitarian Award.

Tom Kingsley directed the film from an original story by Derek Connolly and Colin Trevorrow, written for the screen by the British comedy duo Ben Ashenden and Alexander Owen. Bryce Dallas Howard played Kat, an improv teacher recruited by the police, who enlists two of her students, Bloom and Nick Mohammed, to infiltrate a gang in London’s criminal underworld. Paddy Considine, Ian McShane and Sean Bean took supporting roles, and principal photography began in London in February 2024.

Howard and Mohammed joined Bloom on the carpet. Prime Video released the film worldwide on 12 June 2025, and the Barbican audience saw a film shot on London streets before its streaming release.
