Beyond Ordinary: Works from the Zabludowicz Collection 2026

Thursday, 25 June 2026 Christie's King Street · St James's

Christie's sold 53 works from the Zabludowicz Collection on King Street for £15.4 million, led by Philip Guston's Mirror Head at £3.9 million.

Christie’s gave its London Summer Season at King Street a single-owner evening on Thursday 25 June 2026, when 53 works from the Zabludowicz Collection went under the hammer and made £15.4 million.

Anita and Poju Zabludowicz founded the collection in 1994, as the Young British Artists were reshaping the London scene, and they bought early. Many of the works reached King Street almost fresh to the auction market. In 2007 the couple opened a non-profit project space in north London, known for showing artists at pivotal moments in their careers, and it closed in 2023.

The collection is among the most influential private holdings of contemporary art in Britain, and this was the first time any part of it had come to public auction. It was offered as roughly one per cent of the whole, and a further 44 lots ran online until 30 June.

Philip Guston’s Mirror Head of 1977 led at £3.9 million against an estimate of £3.5 million to £5.5 million. Richard Prince’s Untitled (Cowboy) made £1.5 million and Damien Hirst’s I Love You, one of the butterfly paintings that won him a prize in Austria in 1995, made £762,000. Some 89 per cent of the lots sold, representing 97 per cent of the value. Rose Wylie’s Sailing Boat made £292,100, an auction record for the artist, and Anj Smith and Jakub Julian Ziółkowski also set records.
