Frieze Sculpture takes The Regent's Park from 16 September to 1 November 2026 with eleven international artists, free and open to the park.
Frieze began in 1991 as a magazine about contemporary art, and the fair its founders built in The Regent’s Park in 2003 has since put a temporary art city in the park every October. Frieze Sculpture is the part of that city that is not a city: an outdoor exhibition set among the trees of the English Gardens, free to anyone walking through, standing for six weeks rather than five days. It is the only piece of Frieze week that asks nothing of the person looking at it.
Showing sculpture in a public park changes what can be shown. The work is seen at a distance and from behind, in weather and in changing light, by an audience that includes everyone crossing the park rather than everyone holding a ticket. Galleries bring pieces at a scale no stand could take, and they are judged against trees and sky instead of against a white wall.
The 2026 edition opens on 16 September and stands until 1 November, with eleven international artists among them Angel Otero, Conrad Shawcross, Tarini Sethi and Ivana Bašić. It is up a month before the tents arrive and a fortnight after they are struck, so it holds the park at both ends of the season.
