Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn, sons of the two fighters who defined British boxing in the early 1990s, met before a sell-out stadium crowd in north London.
Chris Eubank Jr beat Conor Benn on points at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in Tottenham on Saturday 26 April 2025. Their fathers were two of British boxing’s great rivals.
The fathers fought twice. Chris Eubank beat Nigel Benn in November 1990, and their rematch three years later ended in a draw.
Eubank Jr was born in Hove and was mentored by his father and by the trainer Ronnie Davies. He came in as the IBO middleweight champion, with 34 wins from 37 fights. Benn, born in London, was unbeaten in 23 fights at welterweight and moved up two divisions to meet him.
The fight was first set for October 2022, billed as Born Rivals, and called off that week after Benn returned a positive drug test. An independent panel lifted his suspension in November 2024.
A crowd of 67,484 filled the stadium, a sell-out for boxing. Benn hurt Eubank badly in the eighth round, but Eubank outlanded him over the twelve, 367 punches to 215.
All three judges scored it 116 to 112 for Eubank, who fell to his knees at the verdict. The two men agreed a rematch at the same stadium within three months.
