Caught Stealing: UK Gala Premiere

Tuesday, 19 August 2025 Odeon Luxe Leicester Square · West End

Austin Butler and Zoë Kravitz joined Darren Aronofsky for the UK gala of Caught Stealing, his crime caper set in the New York of the late 1990s.

Darren Aronofsky’s Caught Stealing held its UK gala premiere at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square on Tuesday 19 August 2025, ten days before Sony released it in British cinemas.

Austin Butler led the arrivals with Zoë Kravitz. Born in Anaheim, California, in 1991, he started as a background actor on a Nickelodeon school comedy and spent his twenties in television, with leading parts in The Carrie Diaries and The Shannara Chronicles. His film breakthrough came as Tex Watson in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in 2019, and Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis followed in 2022, winning him the BAFTA and the Golden Globe and an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. He made his Broadway debut in The Iceman Cometh in 2018, and has since appeared in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films and the series Masters of the Air.

Caught Stealing was adapted by Charlie Huston from his own 2004 novel. Butler played Hank Thompson, a former high-school baseball star tending bar in New York, who falls foul of the city’s criminal underworld while minding a neighbour’s pet. Regina King, Matt Smith, Liev Schreiber and Vincent D’Onofrio are among the supporting cast.

Aronofsky joined his two leads on the carpet before the screening. The score was written by Rob Simonsen and recorded with the British post-punk band Idles, and the film opened in British cinemas on 29 August 2025.
