Formula 1 British Grand Prix 2026

3 – 5 July 2026 Silverstone Circuit · Silverstone, Northamptonshire

Charles Leclerc took his first Silverstone victory in July 2026, ahead of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton, in a race that ended under the Safety Car.

Charles Leclerc won the 2026 British Grand Prix, run from Friday 3 to Sunday 5 July at Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire, for his first victory at the circuit.

Formula One’s world championship began at Silverstone in 1950, when the circuit staged the opening round of the first season. The British and Italian Grands Prix are the only two to have been held in every season of the championship since. Motorsport UK organises the race today.

Kimi Antonelli had the better of Saturday, winning his first Sprint and then taking pole position for Mercedes, with Leclerc alongside him on the front row. On Sunday a Drivers’ Parade of LEGO minicars preceded the 52 laps. Leclerc made a flying start, and Ferrari team-mate Lewis Hamilton followed him past Antonelli into second.

Antonelli led after Leclerc’s pit stop, until an issue on lap 41, thought by his team to be a left front wheel shield failure, dropped him down the order. He was classified 16th after a five-second penalty. Max Verstappen spun into the gravel on lap 48, and the race finished behind the Safety Car. Leclerc claimed his ninth career win. George Russell stayed out during the Safety Car period and took second, 0.427 seconds behind, with Hamilton third and Lando Norris fourth. Hamilton kept the podium place after a reprimand from the stewards for a yellow flag infringement.
