Formula 1 British Grand Prix 2025

4 – 6 July 2025 Silverstone Circuit · Silverstone, Northamptonshire

Silverstone hosted the British Grand Prix in July 2025, and Lando Norris won a wet-dry race before a record weekend crowd of 500,000.

Lando Norris won the British Grand Prix, the oldest race on the Formula One calendar, before his home crowd at Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire on Sunday 6 July 2025.

The Royal Automobile Club first held the British Grand Prix in 1926, and the race has been run every year since 1948. The 1950 race at Silverstone opened the first world championship season.

The weekend drew 500,000 spectators, a record for the event. The formation lap ran behind the Safety Car as rain threatened, and five drivers, George Russell and Charles Leclerc among them, pitted for slick tyres before the start.

Max Verstappen started from pole, and Oscar Piastri passed him on lap 8 as heavy rain began to fall. Torrential rain brought out the Safety Car on lap 14. Piastri took a 10-second penalty for slowing too much ahead of a restart, and Norris led once it was served.

Norris won by 6.812 seconds for McLaren. Nico Hülkenberg climbed from 19th on the grid to third, the first podium of his career. Lewis Hamilton was fourth in his first Silverstone race for Ferrari, and Verstappen recovered from a spin to finish fifth.
