Blenheim Palace hosted the 2025 European Eventing Championships, where Laura Collett won individual gold on London 52 and Germany took the team title.
Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, staged the Agria FEI Eventing European Championship from Thursday 18 to Sunday 21 September 2025.
The palace was built between 1705 and 1722 for the first Duke of Marlborough, to designs by John Vanbrugh. It stands on land granted by the Crown after his victory in Bavaria and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.
The horse trials began in 1990, when the international three-day event at Chatsworth came to an end. Zara Phillips won individual and team gold at the 2005 European Eventing Championships here. In most years Blenheim is the four-star event where riders move up towards Badminton and Burghley.
Twenty years on, the senior championship returned. Germany took team gold by a wide margin, and Ireland reached a European team podium for the first time in 30 years.
The individual medals were settled in Sunday’s jumping. Tom McEwen jumped clear on JL Dublin for bronze, and Michael Jung, three times European champion, went clear for silver.
Laura Collett, the overnight leader, then jumped clear on London 52 to win her first senior individual gold. The horse had won Blenheim’s class for eight- and nine-year-olds in 2018.
