Betfred Challenge Cup Final 2026

Saturday, 30 May 2026 Wembley Stadium · Wembley

Wigan Warriors beat the holders Hull KR 40-10 at Wembley to win a record-extending 22nd Challenge Cup, after their women’s side had won the day’s first final.

Hull KR, the holders, met Wigan Warriors, the competition’s most successful club, in the 125th Challenge Cup Final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 30 May 2026.

The Rugby Football League instituted the Challenge Cup in 1896, the season after the northern clubs broke away from rugby union. The final moved to Wembley in 1929 and has stayed, in a ground that belongs to neither finalist.

Entry runs down to the fifth tier, with amateur clubs qualifying through the early rounds.

Hull KR had won the 2025 final, their first Challenge Cup since 1980. Wigan, winners in 2024, had gone out to Hull FC in the fourth round that year. Before kick-off the mezzo-soprano Laura Wright sang the anthem and “Abide with Me”.

Wigan’s women beat St Helens 54-6 earlier in the afternoon. The men led 10-4 at half-time through two tries from Jack Farrimond, 20, then scored five more after the break. Adam Keighran scored twice and equalled the record of 20 points for one player in a men’s final.

Wigan won 40-10 before 56,383, the first club to win both finals on the same day at Wembley. Farrimond took the Lance Todd Trophy.
