John Hannah leads Bad Day at the Office, Chee Keong Cheung’s first-person action thriller. The film was listed for its London premiere at the Cineworld at The O2 in North Greenwich on Wednesday 7 October 2026.
Born in East Kilbride in 1962, Hannah trained as an electrician before the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. He became known as Matthew in Four Weddings and a Funeral, and has narrated Race Across the World since 2019.
He plays Karl Davis, who wakes in a wrecked hotel room with no memory, a body in the bathtub and police at the door. The camera stays almost entirely behind his eyes.
Cheung is a British genre director and the chief executive of Action Xtreme, the London action studio that made and distributes the film. His earlier films include Redcon-1 and Son of the Soil, which reached number one on Netflix in Nigeria.
Its world premiere opened the Midnight Madness strand at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in August. Action Xtreme releases it in British and Irish cinemas on Friday 30 October.
Radha Mitchell, of Silent Hill, plays the hotel maid Molly, with Tamer Hassan and Lana Parrilla in support.
