The Athens gallery The Breeder brings Greek painting, sculpture and installation, including the Nikos Engonopoulos estate, to booth B29 at Frieze London in The Regent’s Park.
The Breeder, an Athens contemporary art gallery, shows Greek and international art at booth B29 of Frieze London in The Regent’s Park from Wednesday 14 to Sunday 18 October 2026.
Stathis Panagoulis and George Vamvakidis founded the gallery in 2002. It grew out of The Breeder magazine, first published in 2000, to build an artistic dialogue between Athens and the rest of the world.
In 2008 the gallery moved into an abandoned 1970s ice-cream factory in Athens. The conversion, by Aris Zambicos architects, won an award from the Hellenic Institute of Architecture. Since 2019 the space has also hosted the Breeder Open Studio, an invited artist’s studio for four to six weeks at a time.
The Frieze presentation leans on Greek art. It brings the estates of Alexandra Christou and Nikos Engonopoulos together with new work by Kostis Velonis, Olga Migliaressi-Phoca, Margarita Myrogianni and Panos Profitis. Velonis shows Sunfall I, a 2026 canvas, and Migliaressi-Phoca a bleached and scratched mirror named for the mistral.
The booth also shows Maria Hassabi, Luke Edward Hall, Esme Keenleyside, Iva Lulashi and Dima Srouji. Hassabi’s Solo (no. 11) is a 2026 print in a hand-crafted gold-leaf frame.
