Konstantinos Argiros, the laiko singer whose ballad “Athina Mou” made his name, performs in the round at the Royal Albert Hall in South Kensington on Thursday 22 October 2026.
Argiros was born in 1986 in Ilion, a suburb north-west of Athens. He left a medical degree in Italy for a television talent show, then sang in a Thessaloniki nightclub. Nikos Vertis brought him into his Athens bouzoukia residency from there.
For six years after that, every major Greek label turned him down. Sony BMG signed him in 2008, and five of his albums since have gone platinum.
“Athina Mou”, meaning “my Athens”, fixed his place in 2021. His largest audiences are abroad, with sold-out nights at the Sydney Opera House, the Barclays Center and Chicago’s United Center.
He first played the Royal Albert Hall in 2024 and sold it out. This time he sings from the centre of the hall, beneath 360-degree projections drawn from the Acropolis. The staging rebuilds the bouzoukia he came to Athens to sing in: the all-night music hall of tables, flowers and guests standing on chairs.
