The Hellenic Centre presents the most extensive selection of George Pol. Georghiou’s work ever shown outside Cyprus, marking the island’s EU Council Presidency. A defining figure of Cypriot modernism, Georghiou (1901–1972) rendered the people, landscapes and pivotal moments of his homeland across the 1940s and 1950s, and the exhibition gathers major paintings alongside pieces recently recovered from Famagusta. Curated by Loukia Loizou Hadjigavriel and Katerina Stephanides of the A. G. Leventis Gallery, it introduces British audiences to a body of work both deeply local and quietly universal. Curated tours led by the team trace the historical context and personal narratives held within the canvases. Admission is free, with advance booking required.
