Upstairs at Langan's

Langan's Brasserie opened on Stratton Street in 1976, a partnership between Peter Langan and Michael Caine that quickly drew Elizabeth Taylor, Mick Jagger and David Hockney to its art-covered walls. The ground floor brasserie is the institution; the floor above it is something else. Upstairs is a private members club — deep red lacquer, gold bar stools, crimson velvet barrel chairs, a mirror-panel ceiling that reflects the pendant lights back at you — and it operates on a different schedule, staying open until 2am Thursday through Saturday with a resident DJ booth and dancefloor at the centre of it all.

For private hire, the full floor runs to 40 seated or 150 standing across the main bar and an adjacent amber-toned lounge, with two bars running simultaneously and a sound system designed for dancing. The Terrace occupies the rooftop: green hexagonal tiles, orange leather banquettes, a retractable roof, and a curated cigar selection. It seats 25 and stands 50, and works as either a standalone space or an extension of the main floor on warmer evenings.

The venue operates a membership model but takes private hires on Sundays and Mondays when the club is otherwise closed, and accepts exclusive buyouts of the full floor at any time by arrangement. Its postcode is W1J and Green Park is two minutes on foot.
