/ About
Tobi Masa is the first UK restaurant from Masayoshi Takayama, the chef behind the three-Michelin-starred Masa in New York. It occupies the ground floor of The Chancery Rosewood, the Eero Saarinen building on Grosvenor Square that served as the US Embassy for half a century. The gilded eagle above the entrance gives the restaurant its name, from the Japanese word for 'to fly', and Tobi Masa opened in October 2025.
The room, designed by AvroKO, sets Saarinen's modernist geometry against timber, brass mesh and dark stone. At its centre an omakase counter faces the open kitchen, with an inward-facing banquette dining room alongside and a separate bar. The cooking follows Takayama's New York repertoire, built around seasonal sushi and a short list of signature dishes reworked for London.
A private dining room seats up to twelve beneath floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the square, available for private hire. It suits close dinners and small celebrations, with the kitchen tailoring the menu to the table.
