/ About
Sushi Amamoto opened on Albemarle Street in February 2026, taking the Mayfair site that previously held a Michelin star as Taku. It is the first restaurant outside Taiwan for Shogo Amamoto, the Fukuoka-born chef whose two-Michelin-starred Taipei counter keeps a waiting list that runs into the year. He cooks an Edomae menu here, the Tokyo tradition of curing, ageing and pressing fish that rewards restraint over spectacle.
Sixteen guests sit at a single counter of pale English oak that runs the length of the room before turning ninety degrees at its end. Two chefs work side by side, unusual for an omakase of this scale. Natural stone and timber keep the room low-lit and quiet; a linen noren hangs at the door, and there are no windows to the street. Each course arrives on its own ceramic, chosen for the piece it carries.
The room seats sixteen and nothing more, which makes it a natural fit for a private occasion: a single party can take the whole counter for a sitting and have the chefs and the space to themselves. Lunch and dinner run Wednesday to Saturday, and private bookings are arranged directly with the restaurant.
