/ About

Sushi Kanesaka occupies a discreet first-floor room inside 45 Park Lane, the London counter of Shinji Kanesaka, whose original in Ginza holds two Michelin stars. It opened in July 2023 and took a Michelin star of its own within the year. The room is deliberately small: a single counter of nine seats worked from hinoki cypress, with an adjacent four-seat private room, each served by its own itamae. Kumiko screens, a painted cherry-blossom panel and hand-thrown ceramics set the tone, and a host trained in the okami-san tradition receives each guest.

The menu is Edomae omakase, around eighteen courses of nigiri threaded with dishes such as steamed abalone and grilled Kobe beef; the fish is largely European, the rice from Yamagata. Dinner runs across two nightly sittings, Tuesday to Saturday, with Japanese whisky and sake pairings. Taken privately the whole restaurant seats thirteen, the two counters booked together or the four-seat room alone.
