/ About
The NoMad London occupies the former Bow Street Magistrates' Court and Police Station, the Grade II-listed building opposite the Royal Opera House where Oscar Wilde once stood trial. Roman and Williams led the interiors, and the result is bohemian rather than buttoned-up: hand-selected libraries, painted murals, deep velvet and a heavy lean on art. The heart of the hotel is Twenty8 NoMad, a New York-inspired dining room set beneath a soaring glass-roofed atrium that fills with daylight and plays host to lively receptions after dark.
For private events the building's history does most of the work. The old courtroom is now the Magistrates' Ballroom, a dramatic, double-height space hung with a Claire Basler sky mural, served by its own bar and a separate street entrance, and adjoined by intimate private dining rooms including the Fielding Room and the Fireplace Room. Below ground, Common Decency is the discreet draw: a subterranean cocktail lounge with Belle Epoque styling, shell-form lighting and a programme from NoMad's bar team. Side Hustle, in the former police station, brings a looser agave-led energy and an art-filled room of green leather booths.
It is the combination that makes it work for an intimate DJ event: a signature room with theatrical scale and its own bar, smaller rooms for closer gatherings, and a basement lounge built for the small hours. The late-night licence and a dedicated events team round it out.
