/ About
The Newman opened on Newman Street in February 2026 as Fitzrovia's first independently owned townhouse hotel. Interiors by LIND + ALMOND look outward to the neighbourhood rather than away from it, threading local history through the detail: monochrome portraits of Fitzrovian residents line the walls, and the design borrows from the Vorticists, mystics and dandies who once filled these streets. The result is warm and grown-up, built around burr-wood panelling, soft lighting and patterned floors.
For private events the ground floor and basement work as one connected layout. Brasserie Angelica handles the food, a modern European kitchen built on live-fire cooking, with weekend brunch run to a DJ and its own seasonal terrace looking toward the BT Tower. Below it, Gambit Bar descends from street level into an art deco room with vinyl-only and live DJ sets Thursday through Saturday, a setting that suits a late reception as easily as a seated dinner upstairs. Two private dining rooms, Talland and Little Talland, sit alongside, connecting to the bar through an internal door.
Crowning the building is The Penthouse, a rooftop suite with a 130-square-metre terrace, an outdoor table for eight, a fire pit, sauna and cold plunge. The whole floor can be taken exclusively for up to 150 guests, moving a party from drinks in Gambit to dinner in Talland and on to quieter corners. It is the rare new hotel that feels designed for a DJ-led night rather than retrofitted for one.
/ Rooms Available
Gambit Bar
Exclusive HireAn art deco basement bar reached by a staircase down from street level, with a sculpted backlit ceiling, patterned floors and lounge seating around a copper-topped bar. Vinyl-only and live DJ sets run Thursday through Saturday. Available for full private hire, it suits receptions and launches as well as a late celebration.
The Penthouse
Exclusive HireThe rooftop suite crowning the building, with a 130-square-metre terrace, an outdoor dining table for eight, a fire pit, sauna and cold plunge, and sweeping views toward the BT Tower. An interior living area with its own dining table lets a party move between inside and out across a summer evening.
Talland
PrivateThe larger of the two private dining rooms, finished in warm woods and soft lighting beneath a fluted chandelier, with menus drawn from Brasserie Angelica's live-fire kitchen. A connecting door leads through to Gambit Bar, and it can be joined with Little Talland for larger parties.
The Stage
Semi PrivateA semi-secluded space set within Gambit Bar, reached by a spiral staircase and tucked just off the main room. It keeps guests inside the energy of the bar while giving a guest of honour their own corner, working well for pre-dinner drinks or an intimate celebration.
Little Talland
PrivateAn intimate private dining room sharing Talland's warm woods and soft lighting, scaled for close meetings, celebratory dinners and smaller gatherings. It can be combined with Talland when a party grows.
Wellness Studio
PrivateA flexible studio on the Nordic-inspired spa floor, hired privately for yoga, sound baths and experiential activations, and able to pair with the thermal suite of sauna, ice lounge, halotherapy room and hydrotherapy pool.
