/ About

The Grill at The Dorchester is the hotel's founding dining room, part of the Park Lane address since it opened in 1931. After several years trading as The Grill by Tom Booton, the room returned to its original name in September 2025 under culinary director Martyn Nail, previously thirty-six years at Claridge's, alongside head chef Jacob Keen-Downs of Notting Hill's Gold. The cooking is a considered return to grill-room tradition: native lobster, aged steaks and seafood platters, with beef Wellington, steak tartare and flambe Alaska finished tableside from a fleet of silver trolleys.

The room reads as a grand British dining room without feeling like a museum piece. Chandeliers throw light across warm wood panelling and Bentley-leather banquettes, a copper-lit display runs behind the semi-open kitchen, and tables are laid in silver and crystal beneath an ornate ceiling. The cocktail list nods to the hotel's history with a short sherry menu, and once a month Ronnie Scott's takes over the room for an evening of live jazz and soul.

For private events the restaurant is available for exclusive hire, seating around 120 in the heart of The Dorchester, with the kitchen's tableside theatre carried through to the room's own celebrations. It sits a floor away from Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester and China Tang, giving a party the run of a Mayfair grill room with the full weight of the hotel's service behind it.
