Scott's Mayfair

Scott's has stood on Mount Street since 1967, though its story begins in 1851, when the fishmonger John Scott opened an oyster warehouse off the Haymarket. Richard Caring's Caprice Holdings took it on in 2005 and reopened it the following year after a renovation by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio. The restaurant has long drawn a Mayfair crowd; Ian Fleming was a regular here in the 1950s.

Two private rooms sit within the building. The Private Room is the larger, lined with gilded ceilings and verre églomisé glass panels of sea creatures, with a marble-topped bar set over a tropical aquarium. It seats 24 on a single long table or 40 across rounds, and holds 50 for a standing reception. The Renoir Room is the intimate counterpart, an eight-seat space laid over an illuminated green agate floor and hung with works by Renoir, Miró, Chagall and Émile Bernard.

Both rooms suit a seated dinner that runs into the evening, with the kitchen's seafood menus, a sommelier and canapé service handled in house. The Private Room's own bar keeps a celebration self-contained, and the events team arranges menus and timings on enquiry.
