/ About

The Chancery Rosewood occupies one of Mayfair's most recognisable buildings: the former American Embassy on Grosvenor Square, the Grade II-listed mid-century landmark still crowned by its gilded eagle. Rosewood opened it in September 2025 after a restoration led by David Chipperfield, with interiors by the French designer Joseph Dirand. It is the group's first all-suite hotel, 144 suites in all, and Dirand trades the building's diplomatic past for something quieter and more tactile in travertine, bronze, oak and deep lacquer.

Downstairs the hotel reads as a small district of its own. Serra, the all-day Italian, runs along the square behind tall windows and green velvet banquettes; Tobi Masa is its darker counterpart, an omakase counter in panelled wood and marble. There is GSQ overlooking the gardens, the patisserie and brasserie Jacqueline, and the rooftop Eagle Bar, which opens onto terraces above the treeline. Beneath it all sits the Asaya spa and a 25-metre pool.

For private events the scale shifts. The Grand Ballroom seats 510 for dinner and up to 789 theatre-style, divides into two, and is reached by car elevators that run directly into the room, which is useful for launches and productions. The Pavilion adds 2,500 square feet of daylit space with its own live kitchen and lounge, three interconnecting salons handle break-outs and smaller gatherings, and Serra and Tobi Masa each keep a private dining room for up to twelve. A dedicated event entrance keeps all of it discreet from the hotel proper.
