/ About
Temaki began in Brixton in 2021 as London's first restaurant built entirely around the hand roll, taking its cue from the counter bars of California rather than the city's omakase houses. Five years and a devoted following later, the Brixton site closed and Temaki reopened on Maddox Street in June 2026. The two-floor room was designed by the Thessaloniki studio Adamidis around what its founder called 'minimalism without coldness': oak, pale tile and a single wall of abstract green painting standing in for decoration.
Upstairs is the original idea distilled: a curved oak counter seating around fifteen, hand rolls passed straight across it from an open kitchen, the Temaki mark lit gold on the wall behind. Downstairs runs cooler and quieter, a second counter room built around its own dry-ager, closer in mood to a Japanese listening bar than a restaurant floor. The menu has grown with the move — crispy rice topped with cuts of fish, A4 wagyu sliders, sando and toro alongside the handrolls that gave the place its name — served with sake, wine and cocktails.
Both floors take private dining for lunch and dinner, seven days a week, with a minimum spend applied and a later finish available by separate arrangement.
