/ About
Tavern opened on Old Street in April 2026, in the Victorian double-fronted building that was previously home to Nest. It comes from the team behind Restaurant St Barts in Smithfield, which holds a Michelin star and a Michelin Green Star. Executive chef Brendan Appleby and head chef Kirsty Easterbrook both moved across from St Barts, and the cooking is seasonal and British, built on named farmers, fishermen and growers, with low-intervention wines and cocktails such as the chilli pickle martini.
The room keeps its wood panelling, period cornicing and tiling. Tables are dressed in white cloths and lit by candles, and the open kitchen sits behind a long counter of black slate, so the cooking is part of the evening.
For a private occasion the whole restaurant seats 50 across four long tables, with twelve more at the kitchen counter for 62 in all. A semi-private area with its own entrance seats 24, and the main dining room can be taken for a two-hour sitting of 44 before or after regular service. The kitchen writes menus and formats to suit each group.
