Sweeties

On the tenth floor of The Standard, London, Sweeties is the hotel's cocktail bar and late-night discotheque, set across the landing from the Decimo restaurant. Floor-to-ceiling glass frames the Gothic clock tower of St Pancras and the King's Cross skyline, while the room itself runs to blue leather banquettes, striped velvet walls, sheer blush curtains and a mirror ball turning above the floor. The cocktail list leans playful and experimental, and a rotating line-up of DJs plays through the night on a serious in-house sound system.

Taken on exclusive hire, Sweeties holds up to 150 guests for a standing reception and reaches its guests by a private lift. A central DJ booth, a marble-topped bar and a raised seating area suit launches, birthdays and after-dinner parties that carry on late. The bar trades until 2:30am from Thursday to Saturday, with the space licensed later for private events.
