/ About

Studio Frantzén is Björn Frantzén's first restaurant in the UK, at the very top of Harrods. The Swedish chef's Frantzén in Stockholm and Zén in Singapore each hold three Michelin stars, and here he cooks a relaxed à la carte of Nordic food with Asian influences and a touch of French cuisine. Much of it comes from the fireplace: a grilled porterhouse with pine-scented bone marrow and oxtail ponzu, or blistered lobster with curry hollandaise.

The Stockholm studio Joyn designed the rooms with the Frantzén Group, and 112 covers spread across five rooms on the fifth and sixth floors. Guests arrive through a domed reception painted with Nordic motifs. The main dining room rises double height under a spindly silver chandelier, with a marquetry forest scene on the wall, booths carved from end-grain pine and a front-row counter at the open kitchen. Around the corner, a second dining room with a gridded timber ceiling and falu-red booths sits beside the wine cellar.

Two bars serve a Nordic cocktail list, one of them backed by lit glass bricks. Upstairs on the sixth floor are a mezzanine and the first terrace built on the Harrods roof, dressed in marble, rattan and timber, with views across London. A private dining room seats 18 across three tables, and the terrace takes 28 seated or 100 standing. The music is curated and the restaurant is open until late.
