/ About
Skylon occupies the third floor of the Royal Festival Hall, its floor-to-ceiling windows framing the Thames from Hungerford Bridge to the London Eye. Named for the cantilevered steel structure built for the 1951 Festival of Britain, the restaurant reopened in early 2025 after a full reinterpretation by Conran & Partners: dark walnut, bronze mesh and red accents set against the hall's original mid-century concrete, with a new centrepiece, the Grand Central Bar, wrapped in black porcelain beneath a bank of gold porthole lighting.
The main restaurant serves modern British cooking with European touches, its round and banquette tables arranged so every seat keeps sight of the river. For private hire the whole floor takes the full venue to 500 guests standing or 300 seated, with room cleared for a dance floor at 180. Smaller parties can take the restaurant alone or the semi-private River View area in front of the bar, both looking straight across to the Eye and Hungerford Bridge.
An on-site events team runs every booking end to end, from a seated dinner for twelve to a standing reception on the full buyout, with bespoke menu work part of the package.
