Le Pont de la Tour

Le Pont de la Tour has looked out over this stretch of the Thames since 1991, when Terence Conran opened it as the centrepiece of his Butler's Wharf gastrodrome. The dining room looks straight out at Tower Bridge through a wall of windows, and the terrace in front of it is the reason people book weeks ahead for a warm evening. The cooking has stayed classic French throughout, and the restaurant now trades in the Evolv Collection, the group Conran founded the same year.
Two private rooms sit behind the main floor. La Galerie seats twenty at a single boardroom table, walled on one side with a rack of more than three hundred bottles. Le Grand Cru is the semi-private wine cellar, thirty on one long table beneath a barrel-vaulted timber ceiling, with the cellar stock shelved from floor to ceiling on both sides. Le Petit Coin, a corner of the main bar, takes drinks receptions with the bridge in view.
Taken whole, the restaurant holds 150 seated and 300 standing, and more again in summer when the terrace comes into use. Sound and lighting come in with the production rather than the room, which suits an evening built from scratch around a DJ.

Le Grand Cru
Semi PrivateThe semi-private wine cellar behind the restaurant: thirty on one long table under a barrel-vaulted timber ceiling, with the cellar shelved floor to ceiling on both sides. It also takes standing receptions of forty, and the venue runs tastings in it.
La Galerie
PrivateThe private dining room at the far end of the restaurant, twenty around a single boardroom table with more than three hundred bottles racked along one wall. Chevron-patterned walls and low lighting make it the closer of the two private rooms.
Le Petit Coin
Semi PrivateA corner of the main bar given over to drinks receptions of up to fifteen, looking across the Thames towards Tower Bridge. It works on its own or as the arrival before a dinner in one of the private rooms.
The Riverside Terrace
Semi PrivateThe terrace that runs along the front of the building, directly under Tower Bridge. It is dressed differently through the year, from a sand-and-deckchair summer set-up to fire pits and throws in winter, and it is what lifts the venue's standing capacity in the warmer months.
