/ About
Shanghai Me occupies the 28th floor of the London Hilton on Park Lane, the room that was Galvin at Windows for eighteen years, and trades its predecessor's restraint for the glamour of 1930s Shanghai. Izu Ani and Yukitaka Kitade lead a Pan-Asian kitchen drawing on China, Japan and Vietnam, while the design, all Art Deco lacquer, fluted lighting and deep reds, is set against a wall of glass that looks out over Hyde Park, the Palace gardens and the Thames. It is the highest restaurant in Mayfair, and the first London opening for a brand already established in Dubai and Doha.
The main dining room seats around 120 beneath tiered chandeliers and can be taken exclusively for a full buyout. Two private rooms sit off it: the Dragon's Eye at the front, a twelve-seat space with floor-to-ceiling views across the park, and the Den, a screened twelve-cover room set within the restaurant itself.
Behind a mirrored wall is Bund, the venue's lounge bar: a darker, low-lit room of green banquettes and a long private bar, built for the hours after dinner. Resident DJs play here across a weekend licence that runs to 2:30am, and the room can be hired exclusively for receptions of up to 80, with a dedicated terrace for the smoking crowd. It is the part of Shanghai Me built for a party.
