Prince Philip House occupies No. 3 Carlton House Terrace, one of the stucco-fronted houses John Nash laid along The Mall between 1827 and 1832 and now a Grade I listed row on Crown Estate land. It is the home of the Royal Academy of Engineering, which reopened the building under its present name after a renovation completed in 2012. Behind the Corinthian colonnade the interiors read contemporary rather than period: pale rooms, tall sash windows, and a stone staircase turning behind scrolled wrought ironwork.
Seven rooms let across two floors. The first floor is led by the Al Qasimi Room, named for the Ruler of Sharjah and the largest space in the house, which takes a reception of 200 or a dinner of 120, carries a built-in stage and drop-down screen, and divides into north and south halves on electronically operated walls. It opens through to the ERA Foundation Room, a bright, high-ceilinged space that serves as the bar or supper end of the same evening. Below it the ground floor is four near-identical rooms, Rolls-Royce, Sir Kirby Laing, National Grid and David Sainsbury, which interconnect in any combination up to 250 standing; the National Grid room has its own balcony set between the terrace columns above St James's Park.
Outside, the terrace runs the length of the colonnade and takes 250 for a standing reception, with two private gardens, Waterloo West and Stirling Square, behind the house. Taken whole, the building holds 300. Catering is in-house through Company of Cooks, every room is fitted for sound and screens, and the house is step-free throughout, with lifts and hearing loops.

The First Floor

Al Qasimi Room
PrivateThe largest room in the house and the only one with a built-in stage and drop-down screen. Electronically operated walls divide it into Al Qasimi North and South, and it opens through to the ERA Foundation Room next door. Named for His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah.
ERA Foundation Room

Sir Kirby Laing Room

Waterloo West Garden
