Mr Fogg's Society of Exploration

Mr Fogg's Society of Exploration occupies a basement on Bedford Street, a few minutes from Charing Cross. The room is built around a long bar whose back shelves are divided by continent, with the Mechanical Mixologist, an automated Negroni machine, set into the middle of them. Sledges, oars and snowshoes are fixed to the ceiling, and the walls carry oil portraits, barometers and framed maps.

Two spaces sit off the main floor. The Explorers Den is a semi-private corner of buttoned banquettes and patterned armchairs under the portraits, taking up to 40. The Train Carriage is a full-size model of Victorian first-class stock, with quilted seating, brass luggage racks and windows that look back into the bar; it holds 25. Either can be booked on its own, and the whole venue takes 210.

The bar runs to 2am from Thursday to Saturday and programmes live music through the week. Private hire covers the whole room or either of the two spaces, with an in-house drinks and canapé offer and a house sound system. Entertainment is added by arrangement.
